NHRMC Acquires Urgent Care Office

By Alison Lee Satake, posted May 24, 2010

New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) now has an urgent care facility.

NHRMC Urgent Care is located at 1135 Military Cutoff Road, Suite 103, and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The hospital acquired Urgent Care of Wilmington at this location and opened NHRMC Urgent Care on May 1, said Erin Balzotti, spokeswoman for NHRMC. It is the only urgent care facility operated by the hospital.

The urgent care facility sees patients with a wide range of illnesses and injuries, from flu and minor back pain to migraines, allergies and flesh wounds.

It also provides physicals for sports, school and camp programs. It is one of only a few facilities approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to offer flight physicals for pilots.

“These services added to the quality care already provided by NHRMC will give people another location closer to their homes for their urgent care needs,” said John Gizdic, vice president of strategic planning and business development at NHRMC in a press release.

NHRMC Urgent Care is located in the same facility as New Hanover Regional Medical Center Health and Diagnostics, which offers comprehensive imaging including MRI, CT scans, digital mammography, ultrasound, bone density scans and x-rays.

NHRMC Urgent Care participates with all major insurance carriers, including BlueCross BlueShield, Aetna and United HealthCare. For more information on NHRMC Urgent Care, call (910) 256-6222.
