Brunswick Forest Opens Medical Offices

By Ken Little, posted Apr 16, 2010

Medical offices in the 40,000 square-foot facility are now open, at the Villages at Brunswick Forest, offering Brunswick County residents easier access to primary care and specialty physicians, NHRMC spokeswoman Erin Balzotti said.

Villages at Brunswick Forest also offers laboratory, imaging and diagnostic care services, along with convenient care services, she said.

“For many years, we’ve been serving the needs of Brunswick County residents. Our location in the Villages at Brunswick Forest will now give us the opportunity to bring that care closer to home,” John Gizdic, NHRMC vice president of strategic planning/business development, said in a prepared statement.

“This is a great match between Brunswick Forest and New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and we’re delighted to provide these services for area residents,” Gizdic said.

New Hanover Regional Medical Center Health & Diagnostics-Brunswick Forest will offer diagnostic and imaging services, including MRI, CT scans, digital mammography, ultrasound, bone density scans and X-rays.

All diagnostic images will continue to be read by longtime NHRMC healthcare partner Delaney Radiology.

Full lab services are available at the new facility.

The Brunswick Forest location will have two primary care practices. Dr. Alan Morgan, of Morgan Internal Medicine; and Dr. Angela Stanley, of Wilmington Health Associates’ family medical practice; will see new patients beginning in April.

In addition to primary care physicians, the Brunswick Forest location will also offer specialists in urology from the NHRMC Physician Group. Dr. Roc McCarthy of Urology Comprehensive Services and Dr. Robert Bennett will both open  offices there.

One of the southeast’s largest sub-specialty orthopedic medical groups, Atlantic Orthopedics opened a new facility there March 22. Physicians from Atlantic Orthopedics who will see patients at the Brunswick Forest location include Dr. Shawn Hocker, Dr. Ryan Putnam and Dr. Murray Seidel, along with physician assistant David Shaw.

Atlantic Orthopedics physicians offer treatment for the hand, elbow shoulder/upper extremity, in sports medicine, spine, back and neck, hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery and foot and ankle treatments.

“Behind the scenes at Atlantic Orthopedics are physicians and staff who are dedicated to the delivery of high quality orthopedic care every day,” Hocker said in a prepared statement.

“We strive to offer an unsurpassed level of technology and healthcare services to efficiently diagnose painful orthopedic conditions and to restore patients to an active lifestyle,” Hocker said.

“With this new office we are proud to extend this commitment to the residents of Brunswick County and southeastern North Carolina.”

Atlantic’s outpatient rehabilitation services will also be provided on site at the Brunswick Forest location.

Patients can also see specialists in cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, sleep medicine and urology from Wilmington Health Associates at the Brunswick facility.

Office hours for all primary care physicians and specialists will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Care will also be offered by Wilmington Health Associates from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Also, New Hanover Regional Medical Center Health & Diagnostics-Brunswick will hold an open house from 1 p.m. to
4 p.m. Saturday, April 24.

There will be music, food and entertainment, along with the opportunity for the public to tour the new facility, meet physicians and staff and learn more about available services.

The facility is located at 1333 S. Dickinson Drive.
