Atlantic Dermatology To Move Into New Building

By Ken Little | Archives

Atlantic Dermatology, P.A., will move into a new 30,000 square-foot medical building this spring.

The medical building is located at 1099 Medical Center Drive and is on schedule to be complete by May, realtor Bryan Greene of Cape Fear Commercial said.

Atlantic Dermatology was founded in 1994 by Dr. Jonathan Crane, a board-certified dermatologist, in a 1,500 square-foot building on Doctors Circle in Wilmington. In 1997, the practice expanded to a 6,500 square-foot facility and moved to Medical Center Drive.

By 1997, the practice had grown to include treatment of all skin conditions, including cosmetic procedures. Atlantic Dermatology was the first to bring laser hair removal to the area, also in 1997. The staff expanded to include Dr. Ronald Benjamin and physician assistants Patricia Hood and Kelly Britt.

As the practice accepted more patients, space became scare again and in 2003, Atlantic Dermatology added an adjacent 5,200 square-foot building.

Atlantic Dermatology specializes in cosmetic, laser, medical and surgical dermatology. The practice is currently located at 1104 Medical Center Drive.

Construction on the new medical building began in 2008. Greene will offer the existing properties for lease or sale when Atlantic Dermatology moves to its new facility. An additional 11,000 square feet of new medical space will be available in the new building.
