PBS’ Start Up Releases Trailer That Features Wilmington Companies

PBS's START UP has released a trailer featuring several Wilmington companies for the show's upcoming season.

START UP, an Emmy Award-nominated television docuseries highlighting the struggles and victories of entrepreneurs across the United States, released the trailer earlier this week. The show, in its ninth season, stopped in several Southeastern U.S. coastal cities during the filming.

Amy and Ben Wright, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee owners; Tracey and Girard Newkirk, Genesis Block owners; Amanda Jacobs, Sea Love Sea Salt Co. owner; George Tayor, TRU Colors chairman and CEO; and End of Days Distillery are featured in the trailer.

START UP filmed earlier this summer in Wilmington. The decision-making process for choosing the startups to be on the show included interviews with potential candidates, producer and casting director Jenny Feterovich said previously.

"START UP provides an up-close and personal look into today’s small business stories," according to a news release. "In Season 9, creator and host Gary Bredow sits down with a wide range of diverse business owners along America’s SE Coast to better understand how they’ve learned to adapt, innovate and even completely reinvent themselves amidst the chaos and uncertainty of the last two years."

The season covers 13 businesses, and the show is scheduled to air this fall.

Areas included during the season are Wilmington to Burgaw; Myrtle Beach to Charleston, South Carolina; and Garden City to Savannah, Georgia.
