UNCW’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is launching a new development program that aims to advance long-term entrepreneurial growth in the region.
Thrive Lab, a three-part series scheduled to start on March 9, is designed to help business owners expand or optimize their operations. The program will feature in-depth sessions and one-on-one mentorship, according to the press release.
“Beginning March 2026, Thrive Lab will guide participants through a three-plus-month series of sessions focused on finance, funding, sales, product strategy and leadership,” the program’s website states. “Entrepreneurs will also build a strong peer network and receive hands-on support to develop the mindset and capabilities of CEOs, CFOs and CPOs — all while preserving the unique strengths that make their business thrive.”
Participants will be matched with a mentor to meet with between monthly sessions, according to the website.
The first session will take place on March 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at CIE, according to the press release. The location of the second session, scheduled for April 13, has not yet been determined, but it will include an optional happy hour. The program’s third session is scheduled for May 11 at Vantaca, a Wilmington-based software company and the "graduation ceremony" is set for May 28 at CIE.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be founders, cofounders or owners of a business with existing revenue, according to the website. The program is specifically intended for businesses looking to scale or grow. Applications are due Feb. 27, and the program fee is $750.
A sponsorship with Wells Fargo allowed CIE to reduce initial fee costs from $1,500, according to the website. The program is expected to run again in fall 2026.
Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the program's graduation date, which is on May 28.
