TD Bank Names Commercial Loan Officer

In a nutshell: Operating a staging business led Rebecca and Jessica Pirone into a new venture - renting lounge furnishings for special events

TD Bank recently named Christopher J. hoenig as commercial portfolio loan officer in Wilmington. He will be responsible for managing a large portfolio of middle market commercial and industrial loans serving clients throughout the region.

He has four years of experience in banking and lending. Before joining TD Bank, he served as a business services officer – portfolio manager at BB&T in Wilmington.

A Wilmington resident, Hoenig volunteers with Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity and United Way. He is a 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, and a 2003 graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington.

Envision Mortgage announces hirings

Envision Mortgage Corporation of Wilmington recently announced the hiring Bill Jones, Cynthia Kawczynski, and Aaron Roberts as mortgage loan consultants and Tanya Campagna as process and fulfillment director.

They will work with customers who are purchasing, building, or refinancing a home.

Jones is a 15-year veteran of the mortgage industry in working with referral partners, including financial specialists, financial advisors, and wealth relationship managers. He previously served as a mortgage banking director and sales manager for Wachovia.

Kawczynski has more than 24 years’ experience in the financial services industry, specializing in FHA, VA, traditional and non-traditional mortgage products.  She is fluent in Spanish and offers bi-lingual capabilities.

Roberts brings 13 years experience working with a range of clients, including first-time homebuyers and high net worth clients.

Earlier in his career, he was a mortgage loan counselor for Wachovia and Wells Fargo.

In her new role, Campagna will draw on her 13 years’ experience in the mortgage industry, ranging from customer service, to pre- and post-closing, and underwriting second mortgage loans. She previously worked at First Union Bank, Wachovia Mortgage, and Wilmington Finance.

Cape Fear Museum names new education coordinator

Amy Thornton has been named education coordinator at the Cape Fear Museum, the oldest history museum in North Carolina.

Thornton, who had been assistant site manager at the Fort Fisher Historic Site in Kure Beach, will be in charge of developing and coordinating educational and public programs at the museum.

Thornton joins the museum with four years of educational programming and special event development experience. She is a member of the North Carolina Museums Council, American Association for State and Local History and the North Carolina Literacy and Historical Association.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a master’s in public history from North Carolina State University.

“Amy brings with her a wealth of program development, implementation and analysis experience,” said Ruth Haas, museum director. “She is well-known in the community and to Cape Fear Museum due to previous collaborations between the museum and Fort Fisher.”

NHRMC names its Q3 Leader of Excellence

New Hanover Regional Medical Center recently named Jeff Roos, director of anesthesia and interim director of surgical services, as its Leader of Excellence for the third quarter 2011.

The Leader of Excellence is a quarterly award that honors NHRMC’s team leaders for their ability to role model the management process and exceed the expectations of a leader.

Roos was nominated “for his exceptional ownership and communication with the physicians and staff within his department,” hospital spokeswoman Erin Balzotti said.

“Patients speak highly about the quality and compassion of Jeff’s anesthesia care. He exemplifies our standards of performance and continuously leads his team with balance and pride,” said a member of Roos’ team.

New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Surgical Pavilion opened in summer 2008 and is home to 26 operating rooms and 76 private prep and recovery rooms. It’s also home to the daVinci robotic surgery system.
