Noonie Doodle Sweets & Treats of Bald Head Island will soon open a second location, in downtown Wilmington at the corner of Market and Second streets.

Owners Katie and Greg Guthrie opened their Bald Head shop in 2017, when they were faced with the decision to use or rent out the space next to their existing business, Island Retreat Spa & Salon.

In the end they decided to do something fun, inspired by their daughters' love of candy. The shop’s name comes from their daughters' nicknames, Noonie Badoonie and Doodlebug.

In addition to candy, the shop carries a variety of children's toys and party supplies, including custom-made piñatas, and specializes in treats for birthday parties, weddings, sporting events and corporate picnics.

A mid-July opening for the downtown Wilmington location, Unit 120 at 200 Market St., is expected.

The first Noonie Doodle Sweets & Treats is located at 6 Maritime Way on Bald Head Island.
