Front Street Brewery is the largest Whisk(e)y Bar in the state of North Carolina, carrying 93 Premium Bourbons and 193 whiskies in all, according to a press release from the restaurant.

The New Hanover County ABC Commission could not verify state-wide whiskey sales but did confirm Front Street Brewery carries more whiskey than any other bar or restaurant in the county.

"We never thought we would reach the prestigious status of having the largest whiskey bar in the state, but once we realized how close we were to being No. 1, it became a great priority,” bar manager Ryan Morgan said.

Five years ago, Front Street Brewery began aging its locally crafted brews in bourbon barrels. This is a trend that’s been embraced by many in the craft brewing industry and continues to grow, according to marketing manager Ellie Craig.

"Since the first beer went into the barrel, it’s been a goal of ours to expand our bourbon and whiskey selection,” operations manager Chuck Archer said. "By building relationships with distillers, increasing our overall liquor sales and our continuation of the Oak Aged Series of beers, we've been able to accomplish just that."

Front Street Brewery plans to carry more rare bourbons, whiskies and scotches as the spirits make their way into the region through North Carolina ABC allocations.
