David Parker, Park Sterling’s regional president, introduced members of the bank’s local advisory board at the bank’s quarterly meeting held in Wilmington on July 26 and 27.
The board members are Steve Anderson, Cory Barnhill, Pullen Daniel, Ken Dull, Melisa Gallison, Tobin Geatz, Pete Hexter, Livian Jones, Michael Lee and Hill Rogers.
At a reception for the bank’s executives, directors, advisory board and members of the Wilmington business community, Park Sterling CEO Jim Cherry traced the bank’s growth since its founding in 2006.
“In 2010, we had three offices: one in Wilmington and two in Charlotte,” he said. “We had 47 employees and $488 million in assets. We raised $150 million in capital and were then super-capitalized for entry into new markets through de novo growth and bank acquisition.”
Six years later, Park Sterling has 56 offices in four states, $3.2 billion in assets and about 540 employees, the CEO noted.
“We’re the largest community bank in Charlotte, and we have a major presence in upstate South Carolina and in Richmond,” he said.
On the volume of business generated by Park Sterling’s single branch in Wilmington, Cherry said, “We are a lot bigger than our footprint.”
