Survey: Credit Unions Top Banks In Customer Satisfaction

By Jenny Callison, posted Dec 5, 2014
Credit unions lead all other financial services providers in customer satisfaction, according to findings released Nov. 18 by the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).

In ACSI’s national survey, credit unions logged an 85 customer satisfaction score, compared to the average bank score of 76.

ACSI ranks credit unions substantially better than traditional banks on every component including expectations, quality, value, loyalty and having lower complaint rates, according to a news release from the Carolinas Credit Union League, which added that credit unions have ranked above banks in ACSI surveys for the past seven years.

“Members of credit unions, who are the cooperative institutions’ owners, have higher expectations of their credit union than customers of banks do,” the release stated.

“Over the past two years, not only have member expectations increased, but credit union satisfaction scores have increased as well.”
