Live Oak Bank Tops Workplace List

By Staff Reports, posted Aug 29, 2017
For the fourth, consecutive year Wilmington-based Live Oak Bank topped a national list of banks that are the best to land a job at.

Industry publication American Banker named Live Oak No. 1 on its “Best Banks to Work For” list.

The bank has 406 employees, according to the list.

One of those employees is Kate Groat, who took on the created position of director of philanthropy position, which the publication highlighted.

“That a $2-billion asset niche bank would need to have a full-time philanthropy executive, and that its leaders knew their employees well enough to tap a lender with no experience in nonprofits for the job, goes a long way toward explaining how Live Oak has topped the list of the best places to work for four years running,” the publication stated. “Although the bank has been applauded for novel benefits including a dog park and fully paid employee health insurance, Groat said the culture – from the top down – is the perk that has kept her at Live Oak.”

This is the fifth year American Banker has compiled the list and included 75 banks from across the country. It is compiled through analysis by the Best Companies Group, "which conducts extensive employee surveys and reviews employer reports on benefits and policies," according to the publication.
