TowneBank and Dogwood State Bank, a division of TowneBank, recently announced the addition of Mark Tyler and Lenny Smith, who will serve as senior vice presidents and commercial banking officers.

They join Wilmington market president Mark Johnson, who leads efforts "to position TowneBank as the high-touch local bank of choice when Dogwood rebrands as TowneBank later this year," according to a news release.

Smith and Tyler (pictured below at right) bring more than six decades of combined financial industry experience to TowneBank, the release stated.

Smith is a graduate of Elon University and earned his MBA from East Carolina University. He currently serves on the board of Breakthrough T1D, formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, according to the release.

Tyler is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, the Graduate School of Banking at LSU and the North Carolina School of Banking, the release stated.

Active in the community, he was previously appointed to the UNCW Board of Visitors and served on the board for the UNC Wilmington Alumni Association. In addition, Tyler has served as board chair for several organizations, including the Willie Stargell Foundation, Airlie Gardens Foundation, and the United Way of the Cape Fear Area, according to the release.

“Mark and Lenny’s deep roots in the area, combined with decades of banking experience and proven leadership, make them exceptional additions to our team,” Johnson stated in the release. “Their expertise and local insight will allow us to continue delivering exquisite service to our business banking members while also strengthening our role as a community asset.”
