UNCW Chancellor Appointed To National Board

UNCW Chancellor Aswani Volety has been appointed to the board of directors at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), according to a news release.

The organization is a Washington, DC-based higher education association that represents over 500 regional public colleges, universities and systems, the release stated.

According to the release, AASCU members "share a learning- and teaching-centered culture, a historic commitment to student populations and a dedication to research and creativity that advances their regions’ economic progress and cultural development."

Volety was among four new appointees and five new members elected to the AASCU board, the release stated.

“I am honored to join the AASCU Board of Directors and to help advance the mission we share as regional public institutions,” Volety stated in the release. “AASCU members play a vital role in expanding access, fostering innovation and strengthening the communities we serve. I look forward to working alongside colleagues across the country to support student success and drive meaningful impact.”
