Girl Scouts Division Names UNCW Graduate As CFO

Girl Scouts–North Carolina Coastal Pines recently welcomed CPA Susan R. Childs as its chief financial officer.

Childs, who joined the organization Jan. 8, brings over 20 years of experience in financial leadership across nonprofit and educational organizations.

"Her extensive expertise in accounting, strategic planning, and authentic leadership will be instrumental in driving the Girl Scouts–North Carolina Coastal Pines mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character," a news release stated.
 
Childs previously served as director of finance for the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, where she led financial operations, including budgeting, investment management and audits. She also spent nearly two decades at William Peace University, holding roles of increasing responsibility, culminating in associate vice president for finance and controller.

"Her tenure was marked by exemplary audit results, strategic financial planning and successful collaborations with diverse stakeholders," the release stated.

Childs earned a master's degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Beyond her professional achievements, she contributes to her community as a nonprofit board member and mentor, according to the release.

Girl Scouts–North Carolina Coastal Pines covers 41 counties including New Hanover, Pender and Brunswick counties.
