In response to the growing demand for child care and youth programming, the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina has promoted Corey Maarschalk to vice president of youth services, according to a news release.

Prior to this role, Maarschalk served as executive director of youth services. As vice president, Maarschalk is focused on setting strategic goals that will promote continued growth, strengthen community partnerships and support positive youth development, the release stated.

Maarschalk graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in management and a bachelor’s degree in outdoor leadership from Malone University in Canton, Ohio, in 2010. Between 2008 and 2010, he served as an afterschool and summer camp counselor at the YMCA of Central Stark County, also located in Canton.

In August 2010, Maarschalk moved toWilmington to serve as a summer camp counselor and site coordinator at Masonboro Elementary. This school site is operated by the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina, formerly known as the Wilmington Family YMCA.

In the summer of 2011, Maarschalk transitioned to a full-time role as youth director and has since then "significantly expanded" youth services offerings across southeastern North Carolina, according to the release.

"Maarschalk is a catalyst of growth and has been at the helm of starting a preschool program at the Nir Family YMCA, partnering with area churches and schools to bring additional summer camp and afterschool programming to Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender and Sampson counties and establishing relationships with numerous community partners, including NourishNC, First Tee, Coastal Horizons, Kids Making It and more, the release stated.

"Enrollment in the YMCA’s Youth Services programs has increased by 166% since 2019, and Maarschalk is responsible for growing Youth Services’ revenue from $1,643,000 in 2019 to $7,374,000 in 2024," the release stated.
