Rob Bridgers, director of business development at the Wilmington office of Clancy & Theys Construction Co., will retire Jan. 31, after 33 years with the company, according to a news release. Ryan Bisplinghoff, currently senior manager of business development in the Wilmington office, was chosen to succeed him.
“Rob has been instrumental in growing our Wilmington office. Looking at the city’s landscape, you can physically see Rob’s contributions to the area. And, as a part of the Clancy team for 33 years, Rob has continually upheld our values of safety, stewardship, passion, and collaboration,” said Baker Glasgow, president of Clancy & Theys, in the release. “We’ve been fortunate to have Rob’s guidance over the years, and that Ryan has had the opportunity to learn from and work closely with him.”
As part of Clancy & Theys’ long-term succession plan, Bridgers worked closely with Bisplinghoff to ensure a seamless transition for Clancy & Theys’ business strategy in the greater Wilmington area, the release stated.
Bisplinghoff is a North Carolina native, born in Durham, with an undergraduate degree from UNC Chapel Hill and a law degree from Campbell University. He moved to Wilmington in 2014 to open a law practice office for McAngus Goudelock & Courie PLLC. He grew the firm’s business from one lawyer to nine over the course of his tenure while refining his skills in business development and client relations.
Glasgow said in the release, “Shifting to focus his energy and efforts on Business Development and strategy for the Clancy & Theys’ Wilmington Division feels like a natural next step in his career with us."
With 38 years in the Wilmington market, Clancy & Theys has been a part of several notable building projects, including the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher and Cameron Art Museum.
