A Wilmington-based human resources consulting firm has a new leader.

Andy Almeter is now president of Leath Consulting Group LLC, parent company of Leath HR Group. He succeeds Lisa Leath, who is transitioning to founder.  

Leath Consulting Group also announced that the firm acquired majority ownership of a new business, Navstar Health LLC, a health care consulting and patient advocacy firm. Leath Consulting Group also co-owns HR technology company WorkTok LLC.

“Andy’s track history of growing revenue exponentially while ensuring customer experience and quality are top-notch, is what we’re all about here at Leath Consulting Group. This is the right time for someone of Andy’s caliber to step in and run the broader organization with a focus on operational excellence,” Lisa Leath said in the release.

Almeter said, “Leath HR Group will continue to provide clients with HR consultants who are people operations experts, helping businesses to recruit, train and retain their most valuable assets – employees. We’re also very excited to dive into Navstar Health and expand a highly successful model into health care."

Prior to his role as president of Leath Consulting Group, Almeter served as a divisional business operations leader for Novant Health (NHRMC), where he spent over six years in an administrative capacity for over 90 unique business units.  

Almeter, who is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, holds bachelor's degrees from the University of North Carolina Wilmington as well as graduate certificates in policy, data analytics and statistics and LEAN health care.

He sits on the Board of Directors for the United Way of the Cape Fear Area, New Hanover Cooperative Extension Board of Directors and the Cape Fear Housing Coalition Board of Directors and is a founding board member of the New Hanover Disaster Coalition.

He was honored by the StarNews and Wilmington Chamber of Commerce as a 40 Under 40 for the Wilmington area and was nominated as a Health Care Hero for his innovation and leadership during COVID-19.
