Gov. Roy Cooper recently announced appointments and nominations to state boards and commissions that include several Wilmington residents.
 
Cooper appointed Delores Rhodes to the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees as a member at large. Rhodes is an outreach liaison for the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Watson College of Education. She has spent over 35 years working in educational leadership and supervision, according to the announcement from the governor’s office.
 
Kevin Easley, a licensed attorney and medical doctor, was appointed to the Cape Fear Navigation and Pilotage Commission. Easley is a new member of New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Zimmer Cancer Center as its newest doctor in gynecologic oncology, the announcement stated. He is an author and publisher of several books and journal articles.
 
And Mark Venters will serve on the N.C. Radiation Protection Commission as a member with experience in an atomic energy field other than power generation. Venters is the senior staff manager of radiological emergency preparedness and fire protection programs at GE Hitachi Nuclear. He has over 38 years in commercial nuclear utility, uranium enrichment, radioactive waste and fuel cycle facility industries.
