Local attorneys Devlin Horton and Nick Mendez have formed Horton & Mendez PLLC, a Wilmington practice focused on personal injury and wrongful death, according to a news release.

Horton and Mendez opened this month in Wilmington’s Soda Pop District at 705 Princess St., stated the release.

The Wilmington firm "represents clients injured through car, truck or boating accidents; medical malpractice, nursing home injury or injuries from birth, workers’ compensation, product liability, catastrophic, traumatic or spinal cord injuries, as well as business litigation and bad faith claims from insurance companies," stated the release.

“Our experience in handling personal injury cases from the insurance company’s point of view gives us unique insight into the insurance companies’ playbook,” Mendez said in the release.

Mendez (right) earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law and a bachelor's degree from the Univesity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the N.C. State Bar.

“This familiarity with insurance companies helps us prevent clients from settling for less than they deserve,” Horton said in the release.

Horton earned his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law, an MBA from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is a member of the state bar in North Carolina and Virginia.
