Two Join Wilmington Symphony Orchestra Board

The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors has added two new board members.

Coleman Burgess and Kimberley Cheatham were each elected to serve three-year terms on the board of directors, according to a news release.

Burgess is principal clarinetist and chairs the orchestra's artistic committee.

Burgess has been practicing dentistry since 1986. He received his doctorate degree of dental surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his post-graduate work at the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as the Kois Center and the Piper Clinic.

He is a volunteer dentist at the Tileston Outreach Dental Clinic and at the St. Mary Health Center, also serving on their board of directors.

Cheatham (right) serves as outreach coordinator for the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. At the university, her tenure has involved implementing programs for nonprofit organizations and designing programs for K-12 and enrolled, underrepresented students, and as a senior assistant director in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, stated the release. 

She has had previous roles involving grant writing and grant administration.
