Gene Haas Foundation Supports CFCC Students

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Nov 20, 2018
The Gene Haas Foundation recently awarded a $15,000 grant to Cape Fear Community College’s computer integrated machining program, according to a new release.

Bill Cranford, Haas Automation Inc. sales engineer, presented a $15,000 check (left) to the CFCC program, which will be used for student scholarships and sponsorship of manufacturing/engineering projects, teams and competitions, officials said in the release.

“As someone who has benefited from an education received at a community college, I am always excited to see programs that are working hard to equip people for a career they will love,” Cranford said in the release. “Currently, manufacturing in America is booming and I am greeted almost daily by the need for skilled operators and programmers."

The foundation grants money to schools like CFCC because of their efforts training the local workforce. The foundation was founded by Gene Haas, owner of Haas Automation Inc., and was established in 1999.

“Support from industry leaders like Haas Automation, Inc. and the Gene Haas Foundation is crucial to the success of our career and technical programs here at Cape Fear Community College,” said Jim Morton, CFCC president, in the release. “We are grateful for this investment and look forward to seeing our students help meet the needs of the U.S. manufacturing industry.”
