Cucalorus Hires Kim Klein As Development Director

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Jun 19, 2018
The Cucalorus Film Foundation has hired Kim Klein as the organization’s new development director.

Klein began her new role with Cucalorus in June, according to a news release from Cucalorus, an annual festival that takes place each November.

"Having helped found an organization dedicated solely to advancing the work of documentary filmmakers, I’m excited to add my talents to those of the Cucalorus team as we work to increase support for the next generation of emerging filmmakers and performers and build connections with entrepreneurs via the stimulating Connect Conference. I look forward to meeting and working with the community of Wilmington," Klein said in the release.

Klein is the founding executive director of The Better Angels Society in Western Massachusetts, where she has helped raise more than $50 million over the past 10 years to support the work of legendary documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, and to preserve the legacy of his work through education, training, mentoring and support, Cucalorus officials said in the release.

Klein holds degrees in fine art and communications from The University of South Florida.

She brings extensive experience working with a range of educational and cultural organizations to provide leadership, enhance visibility, develop programs and secure solid financial support, officials said.

"We're thrilled to welcome Kim to our team at this pivotal moment for Cucalorus. Kim’s dedication to film combined with her leadership in the field make this a very special partnership,” Dan Brawley, executive director of Cucalorus, said in the release.
