Bald Head Island Limited LLC recently announced that Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island was named the 2017 Southern Living Inspired Community of the Year by Southern Living magazine, according to a news release.

“Southern Living Inspired Communities are neighborhoods marked by charm, taste and Southern spirit that embody a distinctive pride of place. Since becoming a Southern Living Inspired Community, Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island has exceeded our expectations on all fronts. The quality of the homes within the community combined with the commitment to fully embrace the program has earned Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island the Community of the Year Award,” Kristen Bryan, marketing director for Time Inc., said in the release. Southern Living is a subsidiary of Time Inc.

The neighborhood was first released for sale in 2015. About a dozen families have homes completed or underway in the development, officials said in the release.

“With most properties in Phase I spoken for, we’ve just started releasing homesites in the second phase of the neighborhood,” Chad Paul, CEO for Bald Head Island Limited, said in the release. 

The community’s lead builder is Whitney Blair Custom Homes, named Southern Living Custom Builder of the Year in 2016.

“The success of the Southern Living Inspired Community and the Southern Living Idea House recently built on the island generated excitement and interest not only in Cape Fear Station, but in real estate throughout Bald Head Island this past year,” Jeff Leonard, executive sales director for the organization said.
