Wilmington Sharks Announces Additions To Its Office

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Feb 6, 2018

The Wilmington Sharks has announced some additions to its office, according to a news release.

Carson Bowen has been promoted to director of baseball operations, and Tom Lamont will serve as the team’s director of community relations. The two, in addition to Pat Hutchins, are excited to add account executive Alyson Smist to the Sharks' front office to "bolster the team’s sales efforts," officials said.

“We knew we had to surround ourselves with talented people," Hutchins said in the release. “There are no three other people I’d rather be working with to take the Sharks to the next level. We look forward to challenging one another day in and day out in order to build the best experience for our fans.”

The Wilmington Sharks is a local baseball team and one of the charter members of the Coastal Plain League, with its home field at Legion Stadium in Wilmington.

This marks Bowen’s second promotion since joining the Sharks staff in 2014, when he spent two seasons serving as the team’s play-by-play broadcast intern before expressing an interest to take on more responsibilities.

“Carson has a deep understanding of the Sharks and of the Coastal Plain League. His ability to truly tackle everything we throw at him is attributed to his creativity, strong work ethic and desire to be the best in the league,” Hutchins said in the release.

“I’m grateful to Matt Perry, Bill Davidson, Pat Hutchins and everyone else that I’ve worked with in the past four years in Wilmington,” Bowen said in the release. “They’ve placed their trust in me, and provided me with countless opportunities for growth.”

The Sharks are pleased to bring Tom Lamont into the front office to serve the role as the director of community relations, officials said.

Lamont has made an "immediate impact on the Sharks - known particularly for entertaining fans on game-nights," officials said. Lamont will bring this enthusiasm to the day-to-day operations of the Sharks.

“Last summer was so much fun working for the Sharks. Now in a larger role, I hope to contribute even more to the Sharks organization," Lamont said in the release. “It is my goal to introduce Sharks baseball to more people and organizations in the community and have an even greater impact during the 2018 season.”
