Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP announced that a Wilmington employee was one of four recognized as Unsung Legal Heroes by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, according to a news release.

Jennifer Healy, an office administrator in Wilmington, was one of the four honorees, officials said in the release.

As office manager, Healy is responsible for interviewing potential employees, overseeing the hiring process, managing the onboarding process for new employees, and conducting staff evaluations and managing vendors as well as other day-to-day operations, officials said in the release.

She also serves as the head real estate paralegal in the Wilmington office and as the office administrator for the Raleigh office.

“These colleagues are key to our strong foundation, a foundation that allows our attorneys to serve our clients at the highest level every day,” Julie Earp, managing partner at Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP, said in the release. “Working behind the scenes, these team members inspire confidence through their handling of both routine responsibilities and complicated special projects. We are grateful for their service.”

The Unsung Legal Heroes list honors law firm employees who have consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty, often behind the scenes, officials said in the release.

The honorees were chosen from eight different categories: firm administrator, human resources, professional, IT/operations, law librarian, legal marketing professional, legal secretary, receptionist and paralegal, officials said.

The honorees will be featured in a special publication on Dec. 18.

Smith Moore Leatherwood is a legal firm with seven offices and more than 165 attorneys across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
