County's Ogden Skatepark Gets Statewide Recognition

By Christina Haley O'Neal, posted Aug 22, 2017
A New Hanover County park recently received an award from the state.

The N.C. Association of County Commissioners recognized the county with its “Excellence in Innovation Award” for the Ogden Skatepark, according to a press release from the county.

The skatepark, located in the county’s Ogden Park, was completed in February 2017. The 10,000 square-foot concrete skatepark includes a bowl, streets, transitions and vertical features.

The skate park has attracted thousands of skaters and BMX bikers of all ages, officials with the county said in the release.

“The skatepark is a model for leveraging public dollars with private donations to enhance a county project,” County Manager Chris Coudriet said in the release. “This project helped to develop new community partnerships and created a top-quality regional attraction that provides a safe, secure place for skating and biking in our community.”
