WHQR Announces Election Of New Board Members

Four new members were recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Friends of Public Radio Inc. 

The new members are Hannah Dela Cruz Abrams, lecturer in the Department of English at the University of North Carolina Wilmington; Lawrence Craige, attorney at Craige and Fox; Jon McLamb, project manager of nuclear plant projects at GE Hitachi and Fran Scarlett, director at the Institute for Nonprofit News.

 Those elected were announced at WHQR’s annual meeting June 22, according to a press release. They join current board members Jeff Barnes, Kathleen Berkeley, Wiley Cash, MK Cope, Brenda Esch (Secretary), Stephen Fortlouis, Doc Jarden, Geneva Reid, J.C. Smith, Jeff Smith (Chair), Robert Waxman (Vice Chair) and Rob Zapple.

Ned Glascock, Andrew Gray, Geoffrey Losee, Kelly Luckhaus and Sarah Watstein are all retiring from the board.

WHQR Public Radio, broadcasting from Wilmington, serves southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina with HQR News at 91.3 FM and Classical HQR at 96.7 FM.
