McKinley D. Dull, president of McKinley Building Corp. in Wilmington, recently joined the N.C. State University Foundation as a board member.

N.C. State, the largest university in North Carolina with 34,000 students, is in the midst of a $1.6 billion capital campaign for scholarships, research, programs and facilities, according to a news release. Of that, nearly $1.1 billion has already been raised.

The campaign, the most ambitious in the university’s history, runs to 2021. Fewer than 25 public universities in the country have launched campaigns of $1.5 billion or more, according to school officials.

Dull earned a degree in civil engineering from N.C. State in 1985. He created a Dull Scholarship in Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering in 2008, and the scholarship is building to the endowment level.
