N.C. Azalea Festival Exeutive Director Alison Baringer was invited to serve on the IFEA Foundation Board of Directors, and began in January.
 
The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) is a large association that supports and helps festival and event professionals worldwide. It works in partnership with global affiliates under the umbrellas of IFEA Africa, IFEA Asia, IFEA Australia, IFEA Europe, IFEA Latin America, IFEA Middle East (MENASA) and IFEA North America,
 
In September, the Azalea Festival won several awards through the IFEA, including Best New Attendee Service, Best Press/Media Kit, Best Targeted Sponsor Solicitation Proposal, Best Single New Sponsorship Opportunity and Best Children’s Programming.
 
“We couldn’t be more proud of what this means not only for the North Carolina Azalea Festival, but for the city of Wilmington,” said 2017 Azalea Festival President Jean Lawler in a news release. “Members of our community volunteer year-round to bring the Azalea Festival to life, and it’s exciting to see that their labor and dedication has earned such grand recognition.”
 
The 70th North Carolina Azalea Festival is April 5-9 and will mark Baringer's 12th year with the organization.
