Governor’s Office Announces Appointments To State Boards

The Office of Gov. Pat McCrory recently announced several new appointments in the Wilmington area.

G. Richard Garrett of Pender County has been named to the N.C. Board for Licensing of Geologists. Garrett is vice president of Catlin Engineers and Scientists.

Robert S. Cooley Jr. of New Hanover County has been appointed chairman of the U.S.S. North Carolina Battleship Commission, which adopts rules and regulations for proper maintenance and operation of the ship as a memorial and exhibit. Cooley is the owner of Apple Annie’s Bake Shop in Wilmington and an Army veteran.

W. Beck Smith has been appointed vice-chairman of the battleship commission. Smith is a group and individual benefit consultant at GriffinEstep Benefit Group Inc. in Wilmington.
