Two Wilmington chamber officials recently were named co-directors of the chamber’s Leadership Wilmington program.

Faye Dunaway, the chamber’s chief operating officer, and Scott Czechlewski, the chamber’s director of communications, will lead the effort, which is a program of the Wilmington Chamber Foundation. Both also will continue to do their chamber roles as well, according to a news release.

Dunaway (left) has served in her current role as COO since 2006 and been with the chamber for 17 years. She previously taught mathematics and science at Spaulding Monroe Middle School in Bladen County.

Czechlewski joined the chamber as communications director in 2003. He previously worked as a public information specialist for the city of Wilmington and helped organize the city’s Citizen’s Academy program. Czechlewski also has worked as a book editor at Longstreet Press in Atlanta, a book-jacket copywriter at Pocket Books in Manhattan and a freelance writer. He is a former chairman of the Wilmington Sister City Commission.

“The objective of Leadership Wilmington is to educate, challenge and motivate leaders and future leaders to utilize their leadership skills to work for the betterment of our community,” the release stated. “The ten-month program consists of eight all-day sessions, an orientation social, a two-day retreat to begin the program, the Work On Wilmington community service event that regularly attracts more than 1,500 volunteers, and a graduation ceremony.”
