Lawler, Spetrino Chosen For Home Front Heritage Leadership Positions

By Jenny Callison, posted Nov 17, 2015
The World War II Wilmington Home Front Heritage Coalition has named Jean Lawler as its vice chairman and has appointed retired Navy captain David Spetrino as a director, according to the organization’s chairman Wilbur Jones.

Lawler, advertising manager for Wilmington International Airport, has served as a director for three years. A Wilmington native, she is a volunteer with the Azalea Festival committee and other community organizations, and chaired the committee that organized the coalition’s Nov. 4 USO dance at the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, a news release stated.

Spetrino, an international security consultant, served four years in Vietnam and five years on the White House staff during his 29 years of duty, the release stated. A downtown resident since 1999, he serves on several civic and service-related organizations including the Civitans Club.

The mission of the coalition, formed in 2000, is “to identify, preserve, and interpret the rich WWII legacy of southeastern North Carolina,” according to the release.
