Edgerton Wins Wolfe Prize

Clyde Edgerton, a member of the creative writing faculty at University of North Carolina Wilmington, is the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Wolfe Prize. 

The prize, bestowed by UNC-Chapel Hill each October in honor of Wolfe, its illustrious alumnus, recognizes “contemporary writers with distinguished bodies of work,” according to a news release.

Edgerton is the author of ten novels, a book of advice, a memoir, short stories and essays. He has been a Guggenheim Fellow and five of his novels have been New York Times Notable Books, according to his website. He is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and is UNCW's Thomas S. Kenan III Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing.. 

In addition to receiving prize money and a medal, each year’s Wolfe Prize honoree comes to the UNC-CH campus as the university's guest and delivers a public lecture, the release stated.
