Almodovar Hired For Girl Scouts' Regional Programs

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 29, 2015
Girl Scouts-North Carolina Coastal Pines has appointed Melissa Almodovar program director.

She will be responsible for the new Girl Scout Mobile Program Vehicle and will be based at the Wilmington Service Center, according to a release from the organization.

Almodovar is responsible for developing programs based on five educational modules focused on STEM, leadership, outdoor and environmental education, healthy living and financial literacy. The program vehicle, a fully equipped classroom on wheels, travels throughout the organization’s region, according to the release.

“We are pleased to welcome Melissa Almodovar to the program team where she will focus on bringing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to all girls across our 41-council region,” Meridith Orr, program executive at Girl Scouts-North Carolina Coastal Pines, said in the release. “We know it can be challenging for many of our girls and troops in rural counties to access our programs and resources. Melissa is taking our leadership program on the road in order to serve Girl Scouts and more.”

Almodovar’s two daughters have been active with Scouts, and she herself has been a Girl Scout volunteer for 10 years, according to the release.
