Home Instead Graduates 87 From Alzheimer's Program

By Jenny Callison, posted Sep 22, 2015
Since the beginning of 2015, Home Instead Senior Care of Wilmington has graduated 87 additional “CAREGivers” from the company’s Alzheimer's Training Program.

“This adds to our expanding number of professionals who have completed the comprehensive hands-on 10-hour class, which is specifically designed to provide the most current education breakthroughs and proven skills to better serve a growing number of clients with Alzheimer's disease,” the company’s news release stated.

Home Instead Senior Care was named Small Business of the Year in 2003 by the American Society on Aging for its exclusive Alzheimer's Training Program, which has been updated several times in keeping with new research, medication improvements and creative treatment techniques, the release continued. “Of the seven components in the class, the most important include managing difficult behaviors, cognitive-appropriate mental and physical activities and personal hygiene.”

Class instructor Ann LaReau has awarded the CAREGivers certification to more than 270 Home Instead care providers since its inception and the class is now a mandatory addition to the five training elements all new employees must complete, according to the release.
