Gov. Pat McCrory appointed Lisa Estep of Wilmington to the State Board of Community Colleges, according to a recent announcement.

Estep joins five other new appointees from around the state. The new members were sworn in at the board’s regular meeting Aug. 21.

“As a member of the New Hanover County Board of Education and a Wilmington resident, Estep understands the role community colleges play in their local area,” a news release stated. “Estep is playing an integral role in the Board’s partnership with Cape Fear Community College to help bring a CTE [Career/Technical education] high school to New Hanover County. In a society that’s growing in technology and as a parent of five children, two of whom have attended CFCC, Estep plans to utilize her role as a state board member to bring awareness to students’ web-based learning needs.”

Estep graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in accounting.
