Olde Point Country Club Hires GM

By Staff Reports, posted Aug 25, 2015
Zac Weiner has been named the new general manager of Olde Point Country Club in Hampstead, Katierich Asset Management, which acquired the club in 2010, recently announced.

He follows Paul Rutledge who retired recently after 20 years at Olde Point Country Club.

“We’re all going to miss his calming presence and loyalty towards Olde Point,” Katierich owner Lawrence Doyle, said in a news release.

A Wilmington native, Weiner graduated from the University of North Carolina in 2013 with a degree in economics, according to a news release. He worked in property management for two years in New York City before returning to the area to manage Brick Landing Plantation Golf Course in 2014.

“Zac has done a terrific job in turning around several of our properties … he brings a new energy to this property (Olde Point) in terms of fresh ideas coupled with his extensive knowledge of social media and ability to reach younger generations,” Doyle said.

As general manager, Weiner already has overseen the opening of a new restaurant, Georges at Olde Point, headed up by veteran restaurateur Sue Williams. He also has hired John Jenkins to take over as the course’s superintendent.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to be part of Olde Poin … there’s a lot of history at this beautiful golf course, and it’s already in great shape,” Weiner said.
