NHC Board Of Elections Appoints New Members

On July 21, New Hanover County Board of Elections installed its newly appointed members for the 2015-17 term, the agency announced in a news release.

The new members are Jamie Getty (Republican), Thomas Pollard (Democrat) and Jonathan Washburn (Republican).

Washburn, the board’s new chairman, is a practicing attorney in Wilmington who has previously served on the board of elections.

Getty, the board’s secretary (at left) is an attorney with the firm of Block, Crouch, Keeter, Behm & Sayed, serves on the March of Dimes board and is a member of the N.C. Commission on Mental Health as well as the Philanthropic Education Organization for Women.

Pollard, the parliamentarian (at right), served as the Wilmington city attorney for 26 years before retiring. He previously served on the board for the N.C. League of Municipalities, the Environmental Law Section Council of the N.C. Bar Association and the Episcopal Farmworker Ministry. He is a member of the city of Wilmington Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and a past-president of the N.C. Association of Municipal Attorneys.
