RoboMarker, a surgical device made by Wilmington-based Surgilum, was named a finalist in the Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) last month, according to a news release.

The Surgilum product was a finalist in the surgical device category at MDEA, a design competition that awards excellence in manufactured medical devices and products.

MDEA is presented by UBM Canon, a Los Angeles-based media company that publishes several trade magazines. The awards are co-presented by Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry, a publication that focuses on manufacturers of medical devices.

Surgilum makes ophthalmic surgical devices, and its product RoboMarker is a corneal marker. The company was named a 2015 Coastal Entrepreneur Award winner in Biotech earlier this year.
