More than 100 Wilmington-area businesses were recognized for their exemplary 2014 safety records at the Safety Awards Banquet earlier this year, according to a news release.
 
Million Hour Awards, given for a million hours of work with no lost time due to accidents, were presented to International Paper’s Riegelwood Pulp and Paper Mill; West Fraser Inc.; Global Nuclear Fuels Americas’ Fuel Component Operation; Corning Incorporated; and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy’s Engineering and Support Services.
 
The N.C. Labor Department and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce presented the awards.
