Stargell Foundation Makes $100,000 In Grants

The Willie Stargell Foundation announced last month it granted a total of $100,000 in grants for patient care and programs addressing kidney disease, according to a news release.
 
The Wilmington-based Stargell Foundation gave money to several institutions, including $47,000 to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center’s Stargell Dialysis Unit, for the purpose of purchasing equipment.
 
The Willie Stargell Foundation was founded in 2001 in honor of Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Willie Stargell who died from kidney disease and lived in Wilmington, the release stated.
