Two Brunswick County officials were recently honored by the Cape Fear Council of Governments (COG) for their accomplishments, according to a news release.
County manager Ann Hardy was named Manager of the Year. Managers given this award are “selected for their work with their board and jurisdiction, as well as for their involvement beyond their office and with other managers in the region,” the release stated.
“Leadership is a must, along with integrity, and few are able to make a career in such a volatile profession,” the awards dinner program read. “Ann Hardy is an exception. She is always the first to support regional approaches and is a staunch supporter of the Cape Fear COG programs.”
The program noted Hardy’s achievements in collaboration and communication with the county’s departments as well as its municipalities.
The Cape Fear COG named Brunswick County commissioner Frank Williams the Lynwood Norris Outstanding Elected Official for 2014, the news release continued. The award is given by the Cape Fear COG each year at its annual award banquet, and is named for long-time COG board chairman Lynwood Norris. It recognizes elected officials who champion regional partnerships, in the spirit of Norris himself.
“[Williams] is the face of Brunswick County and regionally, serving on numerous committees including the CFCOG Executive Committee,” the awards dinner program read. “A strong advocate for good roads, he embraces the Rural Transportation Planning Organization (RPO) process and now serves as the Chair for that regional committee.”
