Brightmore Receives Senior Fitness Award

By Joe Lowe, posted Feb 24, 2015
The National Association of Home Builders recently recognized the Brightmore of Wilmington senior living center with the association’s 2015 Best of 50+ Housing Gold Award for its fitness and wellness programs.

On Jan. 21, the award was presented at the national group’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The awards program honors developers creating communities that encourage excellence in the retired living housing industry, according to a news release from Brightmore.

Community outreach educator Marianna Stacy collaborates with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, the N.C. Maritime Museums and the Cameron Art Museum to create an active program at Brightmore, the release stated. In addition, several Brightmore programs partner with the Wilmington Yoga Center, paws4people and the Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program.

“Our team places an emphasis on programming that promotes total wellness of body, mind and spirit,” Cindy Stancil, president of Liberty Senior Living Management Services, which operates Brightmore, said in the release. “Through partnerships with local, state and national organizations, we offer innovative programming that creates opportunities for staying active and independent as long as possible, as well as continued growth and learning and social engagement.”
