PPD Again Honored For Adoption-friendly Personnel Policies

By Jenny Callison, posted Dec 16, 2014
PPD was recognized recently by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption for its adoption-friendly policies for employees, the contract research organization announced recently.

For the second consecutive year – and third time in four years – the company was named to the foundation’s list honoring the top 100 U.S. companies that support families seeking to adopt.

The Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list “helps increase awareness about foster care adoption, while celebrating businesses that support adoptive families. Rankings are determined by an analysis of a company’s resources available for employees who adopt children,” PPD’s news release stated, adding that its benefits include paid leave and reimbursement toward expenses incurred during the adoption process.

“Assisting families who seek adoption is one way PPD helps make a difference in the lives of employees and their children. We are honored to earn this prestigious recognition,” Ed Murray, PPD’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer, said in the release.

Rita Soronen, president and CEO of the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, said in the release that a growing number of employers across the country provide adoption benefits for employees.

“Adoption, and in particular adoption from foster care, is an important and increasingly common path to parenthood; we commend all of the employers across the country who recognize the importance of providing benefits to employees looking to expand their families through adoption," Soronen said.

Created by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted, the foundation is a national nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes for the more than 134,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems, according to the release.
