Former NHL Player Hired As Youth Hockey Director

By Staff Reports, posted Sep 30, 2014
Bob Kellogg was recently hired as hockey director for the Wilmington Icehawks youth team, launching its 2014-15 travel hockey season, officials announced.

The team is part of the Coastal Carolina Hockey Association and includes players from Morehead City to Myrtle Beach as well as greater Wilmington, according to a press release. Home games are played at The Ice House in Wilmington.

A Massachusetts native, Kellogg has experience in the sport, both as a player and instructor, the release stated.

He played junior hockey for the Springfield Olympics and represented the United States on the National 16-, 17- and 18-year-old teams in international competition. Kellogg attended Northeastern University on an athletic scholarship and participated in multiple Olympic festivals.

He joined the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as the 48th overall pick. Kellogg also has served as an instructor and director at the Gary Dineen Hockey School in Massachusetts and Connecticut.

“Hockey has been very good to me, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to give back to the youth hockey players in southeastern North Carolina,” Kellogg said in the release. “I am dedicated to developing and grooming the skills of our players which will allow them to maximize their full potential.”
