ILM Receives Spirit Award

By Jenny Callison, posted Aug 26, 2014
United Way of North Carolina recently honored Wilmington International Airport by giving it one of its 2014 N.C. Spirit Awards. In its announcement, the statewide United Way organization cited the  airport for “being a consistent leader in United Way of the Cape Fear Area’s annual campaign goals and practice.”

“ILM has combined an enthusiastic, community-minded approach to educating employees on the needs of the community with passionate and vocal involvement from executive leadership,” a news release stated. “The airport continues to teach and set the standard for campaign success in the Cape Fear Area.”

The airport organization was judged on a variety of criteria that included leadership giving, volunteerism, employee participation, giving levels, year-round education, corporate support, incentive programs and campaign rallies, according to the release.

United Way officials said that ILM consistently achieves 100 percent leadership and employee participation in the United Way of the Lower Cape Fear annual campaign.
