Donald Berger, head of school at Cape Fear Academy, is now president of the board of trustees of the N.C. Association of Independent Schools.  
 
“This organization plays a vital role in serving the interests of our state’s most respected and longest established independent schools,” Berger said in a statement. “NCAIS benefits our independent schools with outstanding professional learning opportunities, a collaborative network of colleagues and professional resources, and a voice in our state legislature.”
 
Berger was elected at a meeting on June 9, and began his two-year term on July 1.
 
The N.C. Association of Independent Schools is “an association of more than 80 independent schools across the state, with over 3800 teachers serving approximately 38,000 students,” according to the release.
