Hunter Cain joined Thomas Construction Group this year and brings an extensive background of finance and commercial real estate, including development, acquisitions and investment banking, focused exclusively on healthcare opportunities.   

As Thomas expands its healthcare vertical, Cain "will focus on the challenges and opportunities that hospitals, health systems, and other providers face in delivering high-quality healthcare services to patients," a news release stated. "With a focus on healthcare strategy and development, he is responsible for helping increase Thomas’ market share through business development and expanding Thomas’ healthcare services."  

Cain has more than a decade of healthcare real estate experience. Prior to Thomas, he founded a development and equity syndication platform and worked with Clarendon Properties, where he served as managing director of development, according to the release.

Prior to Clarendon, Cain held senior roles at public and private equity investment vehicles, where he was directly involved in transacting and closing over $1.5 billion in healthcare real estate, representing over 6 million square feet across 27 states, the release stated.  Hunter also worked with BMO Capital Markets in the Investment Banking division, focusing on M&A and capital markets transactions for healthcare industry clients and private equity sponsors.

During his free time, Hunter is an avid surfer and paddler, the release stated. He is also involved with Special Olympics – New Hanover County, serving as the surfing, basketball and football coach and the organization’s top individual fundraiser each of the past three years. 

Cain is originally from Dallas, Texas, and currently resides in Wilmington. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in management and finance from the University of Florida. Hunter played football for the Gators, where he was a varsity letter winner and member of the all-SEC academic honor roll team.
