The city of Wilmington has announced that Natosha Vincent has been selected as the city's emergency management coordinator, according to a news release.

Her role with the city started this month, officials said. She was previously a firefighter with the Wilmington Fire Department and a public information officer.

"The city included the newly created position in this year’s budget as a part of an effort to be more storm resilient following Hurricane Florence. The position will develop and implement disaster planning and preparedness for the city, including training other city staff members in responding to large-scale crisis events," city officials said in the release.

Vincent earned a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and has worked with the city since 2012.

Vincent’s “experience as a firefighter, hazardous material technician, public information officer and member of our emergency management team will be beneficial in her new role," said Wilmington Fire Chief Buddy Martinette, in the release. "After having worked with Natosha over the last several years, I am convinced she would excel at any job giving to her and it is that versatility and talent that ultimately led to her selection.”
