Local Realtors Earn Honors

Three brokers at Century 21 achieved the Centurian honor recently.

Oscar Garcia, Sandy Thornton and Deryl Smith, all Century 21 real estate agents, were recently awarded the Century 21 System’s Centurion Producer Award for closed sales, according to a news release.

This recognition puts them in the top two percent of all Century 21 agents in the world based on gross closed commissions, according to the release.

Topsail Island Realtor of the Year

Topsail Island Association of Realtors named one of its members, Christina Asbury of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage (at left), the 2015 Realtor of the Year.
 
Asbury has worked in the real estate industry for 11 years and with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage since May 2015. She is immediate past president of the Topsail Island Association of Realtors and past president and current treasurer of the Carolinas chapter of the Realtors Land Institute, according to the release.
 
The criteria for the annual award include realtor spirit; community and civic activity; national, state and local association participation; high ethical standards and good business practices. Association members nominate agents and an appointed committee selects a winner each year, according to the release.
 
“It was a very demanding year for the Association with the transition to a regional MLS and Christina did an excellent job leading our industry through this process,” said Amy Helm, managing broker of the Sneads Ferry office of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. “They could not have picked a better person for this award.”

McCorkle earns certification
 
Beth McCorkle (at left), a Community Association Management Specialists (CAMS) community manager, received her Certified Manager of Community Associations certification.
 
In order to pass the examination and become certified, one must be knowledgeable in all areas of community management, which include: governance and legal matters; budgeting, reserves, investments, and assessments; risk management and insurance; maintenance and contracting; meetings and human resource management, according to a news release.
